چکیده
Recently, environmental dust exposure has emerged as a possible risk factor for interstitial pneumonia. Inhaled silica/silicates and titanium are associated with the progression of rapidly progressive pneumoconiosis. However, relationship between inhaled elements idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) remains unclear. In this study, we focused on IPF presenting histological usual pneumonia investigated progression. We examined in lungs using in-air micro-particle-induced X-ray emission analysis (PIXE). Lung tissue samples were analyzed compared control lung samples. There was significant difference terms silicon, assumed to form silica/silicates. silicon significantly correlated annual decline forced vital capacity patients IPF. Furthermore, higher accumulation showed poorer prognosis than those lower lungs. These differences also seen multivariate analyses, including smoking history, severity, and/or antifibrotic treatment. In-air micro-PIXE can be beneficial detecting lung. results indicate that may partly involved

REPORT OF FOUR CASES OF FAMILIAL IDIOPATHIC PULMONARY FIBROSIS
A 25 year old male and his 46 year old aunt presented with shortness of breath and a dramatic response to steroids. The other two patients are sisters with more advanced disease. One of these responded partially to steroids, while the other died within 4 months of treatment. The genetic basis and pathogenesis are discussed.
متن کاملMMP-7 is a predictive biomarker of disease progression in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a progressive interstitial lung disease with poor prognosis, which is characterised by destruction of normal lung architecture and excessive deposition of lung extracellular matrix. The heterogeneity of disease progression in patients with IPF poses significant obstacles to patient care and prevents efficient development of novel therapeutic interventions....
متن کاملHerpes Virus Infection Is Associated with Vascular Remodeling and Pulmonary Hypertension in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
BACKGROUND Pulmonary hypertension (PH) represents an important complication of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) with a negative impact on patient survival. Herpes viruses are thought to play an etiological role in the development and/or progression of IPF. The influence of viruses on PH associated with IPF is unknown. We aimed to investigate the influence of viruses in IPF patients focusing ...

متن کاملProgression of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis: lessons from asymmetrical disease.
BACKGROUND In idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) the distribution and spatial-temporal progression of fibrotic changes may be influenced by general or locoregional conditions. From this perspective, patients with asymmetrical disease (AIPF) may be unique. METHODS This retrospective study included 32 patients (26 men, mean ± SD age 69 ± 7 years) with AIPF, as defined by an asymmetry ratio (mo...
